I've been thinking about dreams, hopes & aspirations lately. It seems silly during these interesting times to be thinking about selfish wants and desires. These feelings are what drives us though, as artists and as people.
I tell you some of our dreams seem silly when we hear them out loud. However, if others tell us that our dreams are silly then I would suggest that we keep the going after them. The dreams are our personal dreams not theirs, so stick with them. I said one of my dreams out loud this week and I laughed at how far fetched it was so I set out for a goal first, and put the dream on hold. I also feel like I'm living an SL dream right now , not a nightmare but a real dream, so that makes me smile.
In any case we still need to dream, even if some don't get realized, in RL or in SL. The key is to always push for your dreams. Some of the "grains of golden sand" can "fall through your fingers to the deep." I do think we can grasp our dreams with a tighter clasp. Keep striving, keep reaching, Go get 'em!
Take this kiss upon the brow! And, in parting from you now, Thus much let me avow — You are not wrong, who deem That my days have been a dream; Yet if hope has flown away In a night, or in a day, In a vision, or in none, Is it therefore the less gone? All that we see or seem Is but a dream within a dream. I stand amid the roar Of a surf-tormented shore, And I hold within my hand Grains of the golden sand — How few! yet how they creep Through my fingers to the deep, While I weep — while I weep! O God! Can I not grasp Them with a tighter clasp? O God! can I not save One from the pitiless wave? Is all that we see or seem But a dream within a dream? By Edgar Allan Poe
