Curiouser and Curiouser

Second life, to me, is much like Alice in Wonderland. It very much feels like we've all gone down the rabbit hole. We may have all gone on different paths down that hole, which gave us all very different experiences, but we've all done it. We see things in SL we wouldn't in rl to the point where a giant tea pot floating in the air and pouring tea into a giant cup is "nice." We all have our idiosyncrasies, much like Alice or the Mad Hatter, to one extreme or another. Finally, we are all chasing something. It could be a dream, peace, someone, the idea of someone, fun, notoriety, a relationship or friendship, to name just a few.

Whatever it is that we are chasing, we are all chasing something together. We are all Alice. Even if you think you're the Queen of Hearts, you're Alice. Enjoy the ride, even when it is a roller coaster and be sure to have fun.

Location Wonderland

Here are some quotes from Alice in Wonderland. As a fun exercise see how many of these quotes relate to you and your SL experience or if you can think of one that you missed, let me know.

1) When I used to read fairy tales, I fancied that kind of thing never happened, and now here I am in the middle of one!”

2) How funny it’ll seem to come out among the people that walk with their heads downwards!

3) “Well! I’ve often seen a cat without a grin,” thought Alice; “but a grin without a cat! It’s the most curious thing I ever saw in all my life!”

4) “Speak English!” said the Eaglet. “I don’t know the meaning of half those long words, and, what’s more, I don’t believe you do either!”

5) “I’m older than you, and must know better.”

6) “It wasn’t very civil of you to sit down without being invited”

7) “Sentence first—verdict afterwards.”

8) "Curiouser and curiouser"

9) “And the moral of that is—‘Be what you would seem to be’—or, if you’d like it put more simply—‘Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.’”

10) “Really, now you ask me,” said Alice, very much confused, “I don’t think—”

“Then you shouldn’t talk,” said the Hatter.
