When people think of Paris, in most cases, the first image that pops in their head is that of the Eiffel Tower. There is so much more to this beautiful city. The tourist attractions include staples such as the Arc de Triomphe, Musée d'Orsay, the Conciergerie, Moulin Rouge and the Louvre. It is a shame that there was the massive fire at one of the most beautiful and historic churches in the world Notre Dame. As an amateur RL photographer I used 10 or 15 roles of 36 film, yes film, inside Notre Dame alone. The city is more than just the large tourist attractions, although the waterways and foot bridges are filled with tourists you can still feel the air of romance when you travel them. Combining the romance and bridges of Paris was Le Pont des Arts. Starting in 2008 couples would visit Le Pont des Arts and attached padlocks with the lovers’ names written on the locks, as a romantic gesture they would lock the padlock to the bridge and throw the key into the river. The city has removed the locks on many occasions due to safety issues, but the keys remain at the bottom of the river, hopefully keeping the couples' love safe and untouched.
As a photographer , I can almost find art in any inch of Paris, the subway below, the river, the buildings, outdoor restaurant seating, the people, but none other than with the cobblestone roads that lead to the Sacré-Coeur atop Montmartre Paris. I especially remember walking up the cobblestone hills and seeing paintings and photos placed on easels and tables along the Rue Norvins. It's a feeling like no other to be amongst the art, and the true to their art, street level artists. We stopped at La Galette Des Moulins for some sweet and delicious French pastries as we continued our walk up to the top of the hill, reaching the summit to spend an hour at the church and then walk back down.
When you come to Paris for Ara you can feel that romance in the air. There is a beautiful replica of the Eiffel Tower of course and a plethora of locations to take photos of and "with" la Tour Eiffel. When you cross the bridge, you walk into a romantic and beautiful replica of the city of love. Pastry carts and lemonade stands in the street, cobblestone roads, arched windows, roadside flowerpots, outside dining and a romantic two horse carousel by the water. There is a full-service dining at a restaurant called “Vive La Paris” which features a piano outdoors in the middle of the roadway. Do not walk past the bicycles without taking one for a ride. You can see Lexi and I enjoying some wine readying for dinner. The section behind Arianna in the photo reminds me of the Rue Norvins and many of the "rue" in Paris, filled with art, romance and happiness.
